English
I graduated from Leopold High
School in 1975. After a period of starting a family and moving around the
country with my husband's job, we moved back home and I began classes at
Southeast Missouri State University in 1985. I graduated with a degree in
secondary education in 1991 but later decided to get elementary certification
which was completed in 1994. My graduate degree was completed in 2000.
I began my teaching experience at Immaculate
Conception School in Jackson, Missouri in 1994. I taught 8th grade with
several periods of 7th grade classes. My year spent at IC was rewarding
and uplifting. However, in the spring of 1995, a teaching position opened
at Leopold Elementary. I applied for the job and subsequently was hired
for the 4th grade. Shortly thereafter, the 5th grade position also became
vacant, and I decided that might be a better fit for me, so I applied for that
position. That's where I had been for the past twenty-four years. I
love my job, and I love my students. It was been said that the perfect
job is like getting paid for recess, and that's what I feel like--I am getting
paid to do a job that I absolutely love!!! Now I am back teaching English after a short retirement. It's a challenge, but I love it!

I usually assign some for each subject, but most
students manage to complete it during study time.
My family consists of my husband Don, who has his own consulting business, PET Process Solutions. We have four children: Shawn, Scott (Cassie), Matt, and Erin, and seven (wonderful!) grandchildren: Calli, who is attending college and living in Cape Girardeau; Emma, a 6th grader at Jackson Middle School; Brecklen and Brenner, twins who attend West Lane in Jackson; Kate, who is a 1st grade in Gordonville; Luke, turning five in January; and his baby sister, Kaia, who will be two in Feburary. They are definitely the light of our lives!!
I definitely must put family on top of my list, as they are the center of my life. Next to them, however, I love cats and anything about them. (That may be why we currently have four cats or to put it more accurately, they tolerate us!) Their names: Annie, Sophie, Little Gray, and Socks. We have also added a new puppy to our family- Maggie. She is a handful! I also love to garden and putter with flowers, read, and travel. After 45 years of marriage, spending time with my husband is still great fun, and our time spent together is wonderful!
